Have you found it hard to recharge since the pandemic? You’re not alone. Many extroverts all over the nation agree. After the world opened back up, home still felt like the safest place. That makes it hard to recharge. Thankfully, I see my friends every Sunday.

Introspection explores the concept of stoic suffering and the irony of our silent struggles. In our culture, suffering is often seen as a badge of honor, a mark of resilience that we bear alone, believing that internalizing pain is a sign of strength. Through movement, the film challenges this notion, revealing how isolation only deepens our wounds. It highlights the transformative power of community, showing that true strength comes not from enduring suffering in silence but from embracing connection and shared healing.

Cobalt Chromium

Choreographer: Holly Cannon-Hesse

Dancers: Autumn Wegner, Andrea Phillips-Roberts, Kayla Johnson, Jaimie Flores, Amy Bell, Jessica Gaby, Holly Cannon-Hesse, Megan Pennington

Life is full of interruptions. One day you are strong and healthy the next you are filled with cobalt chromium and titanium. One day fear and questioning creep into every aspect of your being. The next you find yourself filled with hope as you heal. It is impossible to heal without hope and dreams for your future. It is impossible to heal without support from others. I was lucky; I had them both. I now look forward to continuing my dancing journey with my new hips.

A Poem of Healing

Poet/ Reader: Janey Violet

My piece will reflect the healing power of community and love in little ways. I am excited to use my poetry to tell a story that goes hand in hand with the work of the dancers! I want to bring light and hope to the space and weave my stories in with those we all share!

It Takes a Village

This is a collaborative effort created by all of the participants in the production. Collaboration in the studio leads to beautiful chaos. We invited all of our guest artists to experience celebratory movement. Megan Pennington came up with the concept as Holly Cannon-Hesse facilitated the beautiful, joyful chaos.
